Conrad Tokyo Afternoon Tea 2026: Art of Autumn Review

Conrad Tokyo Art of Autumn Afternoon Tea

With the cooperation of Conrad Tokyo, our editorial team experienced its autumn afternoon tea.

This time, we enjoyed the Art of Autumn Afternoon Tea, available from October 1 to November 30, 2026. The theme is “Autumn of Art.”

The moment the plate arrived at our table, the first thing that caught our attention was the beauty of the purple-themed sweets. Inspired by antique jewellery, cameos and wax seals, the delicate designs really did look like tiny works of art.

They almost looked too beautiful to eat, but of course, we enjoyed all those autumn flavours anyway.

In this article, I’ll introduce the sweets that left the biggest impression on us, an unusual way to enjoy Mont Blanc, and even the limited-edition Conrad Bear available in October.

This article was produced with the cooperation of Conrad Tokyo, which provided the afternoon tea experience complimentary. All opinions and impressions are based on our editorial team’s actual experience.

Conrad Tokyo “Art of Autumn Afternoon Tea”

Sweets and savouries at Conrad Tokyo Art of Autumn Afternoon Tea

The afternoon tea is served at TwentyEight Bar & Lounge on the 28th floor of Conrad Tokyo.

The standard plan we experienced included five sweets and three savouries arranged on a flat glass plate, plus a separate Mont Blanc cone, scones and drinks.

The first thing that drew our eyes was the collection of sweets on the glass plate. The autumnal purple colours were so beautiful that I wanted to stop and look at each piece individually.

We have enjoyed afternoon tea at Conrad Tokyo several times before, and once again, the presentation impressed us. With Tokyo spreading out beyond the windows, we also enjoyed simply sitting, talking and spending a relaxed mother-daughter afternoon together.

The Welcome Drink: Ube Hojicha Latte

The welcome drink was the Ube Hojicha Latte, another beautiful purple creation.

Ube is a purple yam originating from the Philippines. According to Conrad Tokyo, the latte combines ube with hojicha from the long-established Kyoto tea producer Yamamasa Koyamaen in Uji.

The roasted aroma of the hojicha went beautifully with the gentle sweetness of the ube. Blue flower petals floated on top too, making even the welcome drink feel perfectly matched to the theme.

I love these little details.

Sweets That Look Like Tiny Works of Art

Purple sweet potato and maple mousse at Conrad Tokyo afternoon tea

The Purple Sweet Potato and Maple Mousse felt like one of the sweets that best represented the theme.

The cameo decoration on top was beautifully delicate and looked almost like a tiny piece of antique jewellery. It was not only beautiful in colour, but also had a rich purple sweet potato flavour.

Osmanthus and Shine Muscat jelly at Conrad Tokyo afternoon tea

The Osmanthus and Shine Muscat Jelly was filled with pieces of Shine Muscat grapes.

The fresh, juicy fruit was paired with a slightly bittersweet grape jelly underneath, so the flavour changed as we ate through the layers.

The other sweets were:

  • Pear Mousse with Kito Yuzu and Cassis
  • Hojicha and Chocolate Tart
  • Red Grape and Fig Macaron

Pear, fig and red grape brought plenty of autumn flavour. Even the smaller decorations, including chocolate inspired by wax seals, were beautifully detailed.

Every sweet made me want to take a photo before eating it.

Our Favourite: The Freshly Piped Mont Blanc Cone

One of the most memorable items for us was this Mont Blanc Cone.

The freshly piped Mont Blanc is served in a waffle cone. Inside the cone are candied chestnuts in syrup and crunchy cookie pieces, so there are several textures to enjoy at once.

I had never eaten Mont Blanc this way before. It looked beautiful, but the playful way of eating it made it even more memorable.

This was one of my favourite items from the entire afternoon tea.

Elegant Savouries Too

The savouries are another thing I always look forward to at Conrad Tokyo.

This one was Smoked Salmon and Purple Daikon with Pear and Pomelo Remoulade.

The purple layers seemed to swirl inside the glass, so this was another dish that looked especially beautiful. The freshness of the pear and pomelo added a lovely contrast.

I love smoked salmon, so this was one of my favourite savouries.

Scallop and mushroom terrine at Conrad Tokyo afternoon tea

The Scallop and Mushroom Terrine had plenty of savoury flavour from both the scallop and mushroom. Between the sweeter desserts, the gentle saltiness was especially welcome.

We also enjoyed the pale purple Salsiccia and Purple Cabbage Sandwich. Inside were purple cabbage sauerkraut, spiced salsiccia and potato salad.

The pink bread looked lovely, while the acidity of the sauerkraut gave it a nice contrast.

Autumn Scones: Hokkaido Ebisu Pumpkin and Cinnamon

Plain and Hokkaido Ebisu pumpkin cinnamon scones at Conrad Tokyo

According to Conrad Tokyo, its scones are made using a recipe that has remained unchanged since the hotel opened.

This time, there were two varieties:

  • Plain Scone
  • Hokkaido Ebisu Pumpkin and Cinnamon Scone

They were served with clotted cream and an autumnal fig jam.

The new Ebisu pumpkin and cinnamon scone had a gentle pumpkin flavour and was delicious. Add the fig jam and it feels even more like autumn.

Since there are so many sweets to enjoy as well, I also liked the size of the scones.

Around 20 Free-Flow Drinks, Including Kusmi Tea

If you love tea, being able to choose from several different drinks is another nice part of the experience.

There are around 20 free-flow drink options, including Kusmi Tea, coffee, apple juice and grapefruit juice.

This time, I chose these two.

Four Red Fruits

An organic black tea with aromas of strawberry, raspberry, redcurrant and cherry.

Feel Zen

A rooibos-based herbal tea with fruity and caramel notes. Because it is rooibos-based, it is also a nice option for anyone who prefers a caffeine-free tea.

October Only: Halloween Conrad Bear

Many people collect the popular Conrad Bear.

This time, the bear has a Halloween design available in October only. With a red body, black horns and a little cape, it looks like a tiny devil.
