At

Grand Nikko Tokyo Daiba,

the seasonal

Hokkaido Fair

is being held on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays

from

July 3 to September 27, 2026.

The buffet brings together a wide range of specialties inspired by Hokkaido,

including

Hokkaido beef roast beef,

Kushiro-style kattedon seafood bowls,

Sapporo soup curry,

Sapporo miso ramen,

and Asahikawa soy sauce ramen.

It is a fun way to enjoy many different flavors of northern Japan

without leaving Tokyo.

We visited the dinner buffet

and tried as many dishes as possible.

Here is our firsthand review of the

2026 Hokkaido Fair at GARDEN DINING.

a bright and spacious buffet restaurant

filled with natural light and greenery.

The tables are comfortably spaced,

so the restaurant feels relaxed rather than crowded.

Highlights of the 2026 Hokkaido Fair Buffet

Enjoying the Hokkaido Fair dinner buffet at Grand Nikko Tokyo Daiba

We tried many of the main dishes at the Hokkaido Fair.

There was everything from

scallops

and roast beef

to seafood bowls,

ramen,

and soup curry.

Hokkaido Vegetable Cheese Fondue

One of the new dishes for 2026 was

Hokkaido vegetable cheese fondue.

Guests can choose vegetables

and sausages

and dip them into the creamy cheese sauce.

Hokkaido asparagus with cheese fondue

We especially liked the Hokkaido vegetables,

including young corn

and asparagus.

My favorite was the asparagus.

Grilled Hokkaido Scallops with Butter Soy Sauce

The

grilled Hokkaido scallops with butter soy sauce

were another highlight.

According to the restaurant during our visit,

the dish had originally been limited to one serving per guest,

but was later changed to

all-you-can-eat.

The scallops were rich and savory,

with the aroma of butter and soy sauce.

Hokkaido Beef Roast Beef Served by the Chef

The

Hokkaido beef roast beef

is served directly by the chef.

The meat was

very tender and juicy

and easy to eat.

One guest next to us even asked the chef for ten slices.

After tasting it ourselves,

we completely understood why.

Kushiro-Style Kattedon with Plenty of Ikura

One of our favorite dishes was

Kushiro-style kattedon.

Adding ikura to a Kushiro-style seafood bowl at Grand Nikko Tokyo Daiba

You can build your own seafood bowl

with ingredients such as tuna

and squid,

then add

as much ikura salmon roe as you like.

Because you can adjust the ingredients

and portion size yourself,

it is easy to make exactly the kind of bowl you want.

Sapporo Miso Ramen and Asahikawa Soy Sauce Ramen

Ramen station at Grand Nikko Tokyo Daiba Hokkaido Fair

The ramen station featured two Hokkaido styles:

Sapporo miso ramen

and

Asahikawa soy sauce ramen.

For the miso ramen,

we added butter

for an even richer and creamier flavor.

Asahikawa soy sauce ramen at Grand Nikko Tokyo Daiba

The Asahikawa-style soy sauce ramen

had a noticeable seafood-based flavor.

It made us want to try the real thing in Asahikawa one day.

Sapporo Soup Curry

Another classic Hokkaido dish is

Sapporo soup curry.

The curry was nicely spiced

and packed with vegetables.

We even enjoyed it without rice.

It is fun to compare it with the ramen

if you have room for both.

Hot Meat Dishes and Gratin

There were also many warm meat dishes.

The lamb was served with

a fruity and slightly tart

haskap berry sauce.

We really enjoyed the combination.

The hot gratin

was rich and cheesy.

Colorful Cold Dishes and Salads

The cold appetizer section

was another highlight.

The dishes were beautifully arranged over ice.

Hokkaido corned beef and potato salad at Grand Nikko Tokyo Daiba

One dish combined

Hokkaido corned beef,

aged Kita Akari potatoes,

kale,

feta cheese,

and almonds.

The salty corned beef

and creamy feta

worked well with the slightly bitter kale.

Another cold dish featured

Asahikawa barley

and octopus,

with corn and Tokachi edamame.

The texture of the barley

made it especially interesting.

Homemade breads at GARDEN DINING buffet

There were also

vichyssoise,

fresh salads,

and three types of homemade bread.

Hakodate Salmon Carpaccio

Hakodate salmon carpaccio at Grand Nikko Tokyo Daiba Hokkaido Fair

Hokkaido and salmon go hand in hand,

so we were happy to see

Hakodate salmon carpaccio.

It was served with grated daikon

and a citrus sauce,

which made it fresh and light.

White Corn and Cheese Caprese

Another unusual appetizer was

white corn and cheese caprese.

Hokkaido white corn

was blended with cheese

and served with colorful tomatoes

and olives.

It was a combination we had never tried before,

with a gentle sweetness from the corn.

Make-Your-Own Pancakes with Honeycomb Honey

Outside the Hokkaido-themed dishes,

GARDEN DINING also has some fun buffet features.

At the pancake station,

you simply hold your hand over the sensor

and a pancake is automatically cooked in front of you.

Even more impressive,

guests can

take honey directly from the honeycomb.

We added plenty of honey

to a freshly cooked pancake

and served it with gelato

and fruit.

This would also be fun to try

with children or grandchildren.

Hokkaido-Inspired Desserts

Dessert selection at Grand Nikko Tokyo Daiba GARDEN DINING

The dessert section featured

eight different cakes

during our visit.

One of our favorites was the

caramel cheesecake made with Hokkaido cream cheese.

The slight bitterness of the caramel

worked beautifully with the rich cheesecake.

There was also

tiramisu made with Hokkaido mascarpone.

We also found a cake made with

Hokkaido haskap berries,

a fruit that is not commonly seen outside northern Japan.

Hokkaido red bean and orange coconut panna cotta

The cakes were relatively small,

which made it easier to try several different flavors.

I especially liked the panna cotta

with red bean paste,

which felt almost like a Japanese-style dessert.

SORACHI 1984 Beer and Non-Alcoholic Drinks

SORACHI 1984 beer at Grand Nikko Tokyo Daiba Hokkaido Fair

For drinks,

we toasted with

SORACHI 1984,

a beer connected with Hokkaido-grown Sorachi Ace hops.

Its refreshing flavor

paired well with many of the buffet dishes.

For guests who prefer non-alcoholic drinks,

there was also

Bottega Baci organic pomegranate soda.

It had a light,

sweet-and-tart flavor.

Is the 2026 Hokkaido Fair at Grand Nikko Tokyo Daiba Worth It?

Enjoying the 2026 Hokkaido Fair at Grand Nikko Tokyo Daiba

Compared with the previous year,

the 2026 Hokkaido Fair included some noticeable changes,

such as

all-you-can-eat scallops

and the addition of

Hokkaido vegetable cheese fondue.

Our personal favorites were

the Hokkaido beef roast beef

and the kattedon topped with plenty of ikura.

Mother and daughter enjoying the Hokkaido Fair buffet at Grand Nikko Tokyo Daiba

The bowls and ramen portions were relatively small,

which made it easy to sample many different dishes

without committing to a large serving of each.

There were also plenty of lighter dishes,

including seafood,

salads,

and cold appetizers.

For travelers who enjoy trying many regional Japanese specialties at once,

this is a fun seasonal buffet experience in Tokyo.
