Sheraton Okinawa Beach Review: Relaxing at Sunmarina Beach After 60

2023年5月13日

Beautiful view of Sunmarina Beach at Sheraton Okinawa Sunmarina Resort

For this Okinawa trip,

we stayed at Sheraton Okinawa Sunmarina Resort again,

following our stay there in January.

We were so satisfied with our previous stay

that this became our second visit (*´ω`*)

This time, the theme of our trip was simple:

to do nothing and just relax.

Instead of packing our schedule with sightseeing,

we spent slow, peaceful time at Sunmarina Beach,

simply looking out at the sea.

Right in front of the hotel is

Sunmarina Beach, a beautiful white-sand beach stretching about 400 meters.

For travelers in their 60s,

I think one of the true luxuries of travel

is not only sightseeing,

but also enjoying quiet, unhurried time at the hotel and the beach.

※Facility fees and opening hours were checked again in September 2026.

Relaxing at Sheraton Okinawa’s Beach|For Travelers Over 60, the Luxury of Doing Nothing

Beach umbrella and beach chairs at Sunmarina Beach

Sunmarina Beach,

located right in front of Sheraton Okinawa Sunmarina Resort,

is a beautiful beach where you can easily enjoy

white sand and crystal-clear water just steps from the hotel.

At the beach,

you can rent umbrellas and beach chairs.

Currently,

bringing outside beach umbrellas or beach chairs is not allowed,

so if you want to use them,

you need to rent them at the Beach Play Counter.

Also,

guests staying in the South Tower can use a parasol and beach lounge chair set free of charge.

South Tower guests also receive other complimentary benefits,

including the indoor pool,

garden pool,

public bath and sauna,

and mini golf.

※Conditions may change, so please check the latest information when booking.

View of the blue sea from Sheraton Okinawa Sunmarina Beach

This was the view from under our beach umbrella.

Blue sky,

emerald-green sea,

and a gentle breeze.

Even just sitting quietly and looking at the view felt wonderfully healing.

For people in their 60s who are usually busy with work,

household responsibilities,

or caring for family,

I really think Okinawa is the perfect place to enjoy time with no plans at all.

Indoor Pool, Public Bath, and Sauna|Facilities That Are Especially Nice for Travelers Over 60

Sheraton Okinawa has a wellness area called

Wellness & Spa Nuchigusui.

Currently,

the public bath and sauna are open

6:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. (last admission 10:00 a.m.)

and

2:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. (last admission 10:30 p.m.).

For regular hotel guests,

the fee is

¥2,000 per person per stay.

For South Tower guests,

the public bath and sauna are included as a complimentary benefit.

There is also a heated indoor pool,

which hotel guests can use free of charge.

The indoor pool is currently open from

9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

This is especially convenient on rainy days

or when the ocean feels a little too cold.

※Opening hours and fees may change.

A Memory of Eating a Hamburger on the Beach♪

Clear blue sea at Sunmarina Beach

The weather was lovely that day,

so the sea looked especially beautiful

and the water was very clear.

The ocean felt a little chilly,

but some people were swimming (*´ω`*)

Mama-rin, our editor-in-chief in her 60s,

did not swim,

and instead enjoyed a relaxing beach day.

Cheeseburger from Burger Shop H&S in Okinawa

At the time of our stay,

we got a takeaway cheeseburger from

Burger Shop H&S

and ate it on the beach.

It was very filling,

the burger was delicious,

and

the fries were excellent too!

It was so good that we finished it almost in silence(笑)

Burger Shop H&S has since moved

and is now operating at

89 Maeganeku, Onna Village.

It is now located near

The Moon Beach Museum Resort,

so it is currently a convenient stop when visiting the Moon Beach area.

There Is Also a Seasonal Beach Café

Sheraton Okinawa’s beach area also has

Starfish Beach Café.

It is a casual beachside café

where you can enjoy light meals and cold drinks.

However,

it operates

seasonally,

and the opening hours vary depending on the season.

If you would like to use it,

it is best to check the latest operating information during your stay.

A Morning Walk on Sunmarina Beach and the Pier Is Also Wonderful

Morning walk on Sunmarina Beach

Sunmarina Beach has not only the beach itself,

but also a pier and other nice areas for walking,

so

I highly recommend taking a morning walk here.

On a sunny day,

you can spend a peaceful morning

looking out over the beautiful ocean.

Ocean view during a walk at Sunmarina Beach

This was one of the views we enjoyed during our walk.

Sea and sky at Sunmarina Beach

It is exactly the kind of scenery

I would love travelers in their 60s to see

if they want to soothe everyday fatigue.

If you look closely,

you can even spot fish swimming in the sea!

Recommended for Travelers Over 60|A Great Hotel for a Slow, Relaxing Stay

Sheraton Okinawa Sunmarina Resort is not only a good hotel

for an active sightseeing trip,

but also

a great choice for travelers who want to slow down and simply enjoy the hotel and the beach.

Right in front of the hotel is Sunmarina Beach,

and inside the resort you will also find

a heated indoor pool,

a public bath and sauna,

restaurants,

and bars.

If the weather is good,

you can take a walk on the beach in the morning,

then spend the day relaxing while looking out at the ocean.

Even if you do not swim,

you can still fully enjoy the Okinawan resort atmosphere.

I felt that one of the greatest luxuries of a resort trip is simply enjoying time with nothing to do.

This is a hotel I would definitely recommend

for a relaxed Okinawa trip in your 60s.
