On our second trip to Okinawa that year,
we stayed one night at

and one night at Sheraton Okinawa.
This was our first stay at The Moon Beach Museum Resort.
At the time of our stay,
the room cost around
¥15,000 per night,
which felt quite reasonable for a resort hotel.
We also enjoyed
the buffet and cakes,
and
the beautiful scenery made our stay especially relaxing.

Is The Moon Beach Museum Resort Old? A Historic Okinawa Resort Open Since 1975
The Moon Beach Museum Resort
is a historic resort hotel that opened in
1975.
Before our stay,
I saw some reviews mentioning that the building felt old.
However,
when we actually stayed there,
the hotel was very clean and well maintained.
I also really liked the open, tropical resort atmosphere (*´ω｀*)
With its greenery
and open-air architectural design,
the hotel reminded me a little of a resort in Bali.
The corridors leading to the guest rooms are open-air.
There is plenty of airflow,
so I imagine it feels wonderful on a warm,
sunny day.
However,
the day we stayed was cloudy
and surprisingly cold for Okinawa.
On colder days, the open-air design can make the hotel feel even cooler.
The resort itself is very spacious,
and you can also see the atrium pool from the corridors.
The atrium pool was beautiful too (*´ω｀*)
It is a semi-outdoor pool.
The opening hours vary between summer and winter,
and the pool is heated during the winter season.
Hotel guests can use it free of charge.

Our Room Review: You May Need to Be Creative with Large Suitcases
We stayed in a
Comfort Ocean Front room, 30㎡
with twin beds.
The room itself was very clean,
but
the room was relatively narrow,
and
we had some trouble finding space to leave our suitcases open.
If we opened a large suitcase in the walkway,
we had to step over it to get around.
So after arriving,
I recommend
unpacking and moving your belongings into the drawers fairly quickly.
The storage space itself was quite generous♪
There was also a two-person sofa.
The bathroom area included
a washlet toilet
and a simple, easy-to-use sink.
This was the bathroom.
Basic amenities were also provided.
I brought my own hair dryer from home.
Some hotel hair dryers can be weak,
so if you want to save time drying your hair,
bringing one you already like can be useful.

I also loved the Ryukyu glass cups in the room.
They added a lovely Okinawan touch (*´ω｀*)
Public Bath and Sauna: A Nice Feature for Travelers in Their 60s
Travel often involves a lot of walking,
so being able to relax in a large public bath at the end of the day
is something I really appreciate.
When choosing a hotel,
I often look for one with a public bath if possible (*´ω｀*)
At The Moon Beach Museum Resort,
hotel guests can use the public bath and sauna for ¥1,100 per adult.
Even better,
you can use them as many times as you like during your stay.
The current opening hours are
4:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. (last admission at 10:00 p.m.).
The men's area has a dry sauna,
while the women's area has a mist sauna.
For travelers in their 60s,
having a spacious bath where you can relax after sightseeing
is a very nice feature.

Café Time at the Hotel Lounge: We Loved the Cake
At around 3:00 p.m. on the day we arrived,
we relaxed at the hotel's lounge café (*´ω｀*)
We ordered some light food,
cake
and tea.
At the time of our stay,
drinks were around ¥600,
cake was about ¥650,
and a four-piece sandwich was around ¥1,000.

We tried the yogurt mousse cake♪
It was refreshing, slightly tart and delicious.
I had read reviews saying the cakes were good,
so I was glad we had the chance to try one.
Simply relaxing with tea inside the hotel
felt like part of the resort experience.
The Lunch Buffet Was Delicious — Don't Miss the Hotel Curry
Our accommodation plan included breakfast,
but at the time of our stay,
we were able to switch breakfast to lunch.
So we chose to enjoy the
lunch buffet instead.
There are still accommodation plans that allow guests
to change breakfast to lunch.
This can be especially convenient
if you do not eat much in the morning
or prefer a bigger meal later in the day.
The lunch buffet at the hotel's
All Day Dining Corallo
currently runs from
11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
The current adult price is
¥3,500 including tax and service charge.
The buffet had
a wide variety of dishes, and we were very satisfied with the food.
I still remember how good this chicken was♪
There was also tropical-style salmon poke♪
The garlic sautéed edamame was delicious too.
There were also Okinawan-style dishes,
such as purple sweet potato bread
and goya tempura.
When I travel,
I always prefer trying local foods
rather than dishes I can easily eat at home,
so I enjoyed this part of the buffet too.
My favorite dish was the hotel's signature curry♪
The curry is still featured by the hotel today
as one of its long-loved signature dishes.
It had a slightly fruity acidity,
but was also nicely spicy.
I liked it so much
that I went back for a second serving（笑）
There were plenty of fruits and desserts too♪
At the time of our stay,
there were around five different cakes.
It was one of those buffets
where almost everything looked worth trying.
The view from the restaurant was also beautiful,
which made the meal even more relaxing.
I could have happily stayed there for hours,
eating while looking out at the scenery（笑）

The Lagoon Pool Has Beautiful Ocean Views
The Moon Beach Museum Resort also has a
lagoon pool
with beautiful views that seem to blend into the surrounding landscape.
Look at this!
Blue pool, blue ocean and blue sky!
Everything in front of us was blue!
It felt wonderfully luxurious.
For travelers in their 60s,
even if you do not want to swim,
just relaxing by the pool
and looking at the view can be very peaceful.
It is easy to lose track of time here♪
Even the beach umbrellas were a beautiful pale blue
that matched the scenery.
The pool water felt quite cold during our stay,
so
for travelers in their 60s, I think it may be more comfortable on a genuinely hot day.
During cooler weather,
the atrium pool,
which is heated in winter,
may be the easier option.

Beautiful Resort Scenery and a Natural Beach
The Moon Beach Museum Resort
has beautiful scenery throughout the property.
On a sunny day,
it feels especially wonderful.
Even an ordinary staircase
can become a lovely photo spot.
Some parts of the resort
almost looked like a painting.
Moon Beach,
located directly in front of the hotel,
is a natural sandy beach.
The sand was fine,
white
and very beautiful.
We even found some interesting pieces of coral.
As the word “Museum” in the hotel name suggests,
artworks are displayed around the resort grounds.
Here we found a mermaid.
The combination of the sea and the mermaid
was especially pretty.
The blue ocean was beautiful too!
There are also several places around the resort
where you can sit down
and simply enjoy the scenery.
The view from this chair was wonderful.
For travelers in their 60s, simply relaxing at the hotel
or taking a leisurely walk around the resort can be enjoyable.
Final Thoughts on The Moon Beach Museum Resort
After staying here,
I felt that this is the kind of hotel
where simply spending time at the resort can be enjoyable.
You can have tea,
look at the ocean,
take photos
and enjoy a slower pace.
I especially recommend it for travelers who want a relaxing resort stay.
The building has history,
but the open-air architecture
and tropical scenery give the hotel a distinctive charm.
The lunch buffet was delicious,
there are pools and a natural beach,
and the property is well suited to travelers
who want to spend time relaxing at the hotel itself.
There are also several restaurants in the surrounding area,
which is convenient if you want to eat outside the hotel.
I would happily stay here again♪
