Breakfast at Ametis Villa: Japanese Food with a Funny Surprise
One of the best things about breakfast at Ametis Villa is that you do not need to go to a restaurant.
Our personal butler brought breakfast directly to our villa.
Sitting in our own private space, listening to birds outside and enjoying breakfast at a relaxed pace felt wonderfully luxurious.
There was no need to dress up or rush anywhere.
A Comforting Japanese Breakfast in Bali
That morning, we chose the Japanese breakfast.
When it arrived, one small detail immediately made us laugh.
“The salmon is facing the opposite direction from how it is usually served in Japan!”
Little cultural differences like this are part of what makes traveling overseas so interesting.
We had eaten quite a lot during our romantic dinner the night before, so the light and gentle Japanese breakfast was exactly what we wanted the next morning.
For older travelers, especially if you prefer something mild in the morning, having a simple Japanese-style option can be very comforting.
Beautifully Cut Tropical Fruit
The fruit presentation was also fun to look at.
The way it had been cut was quite artistic and unlike what we usually see at home.
The fruit in Bali tasted refreshing and not overly sweet, which made it especially nice in the morning.
The yogurt was much thinner than the yogurt we usually have in Japan.
It was almost drinkable and very easy to enjoy with breakfast.
Because the villa is so open to the outdoors, mosquito protection is something worth thinking about.
We always bring mosquito repellent when visiting Bali, especially when eating or relaxing outside.

Our Private Pool — and One Funny Regret
After breakfast, we went straight to our villa's private pool.
The pool was surprisingly large and deep enough for proper swimming.
I am just under 160 cm tall, and the water came up to around my chest.
Looking back, there is one silly thing I still think about.
“Nobody was coming... maybe I should have gone swimming naked!”
I was immediately told absolutely not.（笑）
But that gives you an idea of just how private the villa felt.
It truly felt like our own space, with nobody watching and nobody disturbing us.
Being able to swim, laugh, take photos and simply enjoy ourselves without worrying about anyone else was incredibly freeing.
Two Travel Items That Made the Pool More Fun
1. A selfie stick
If you want photos of yourselves enjoying a private pool, a selfie stick is surprisingly useful.
The villa is spacious, and being able to take photos without asking anyone else means you end up with far more memories from your stay.
2. A waterproof camera
At the time, I used a Fujifilm FinePix XP90 waterproof camera.
It was very simple to operate and did not require complicated settings.
That made it easy to use by the pool, even if you are not particularly confident with cameras.
Because it is waterproof, you can take photos without worrying too much about splashes or getting it wet.
Why a Villa Stay Can Be Perfect for Travelers in Their 60s
Even in our 60s, we ended up swimming, laughing and taking plenty of photos.
Sometimes a trip does not need to be packed with sightseeing.
Spending time slowly at a villa can be just as memorable.
We could play in the pool, then go straight back inside and relax whenever we became tired.
For us, that was the real luxury.
Doing nothing at all.
Compared with a normal hotel stay, a private villa gives you far more space and freedom to move at your own pace.
Ametis Villa felt incredibly spacious and peaceful, and time seemed to move more slowly there.
It helped us completely forget the usual rush of everyday life.
