A gorgeous afternoon tea featuring
Bacha Coffee,
the traditional coffee brand originating in Marrakech, Morocco,
is coming to InterContinental Tokyo Bay
from September 15 to November 16, 2026.
This time,
the Kanreki Travel editorial team was invited to experience the
Autumn Palace Afternoon Tea with Bacha Coffee
at the New York Lounge on the first floor of the hotel.
Our editor-in-chief, Mamarin, who is in her 60s,
was especially impressed.
“This may be the most beautiful afternoon tea I’ve ever experienced!”
It is a wonderful option for birthdays,
anniversaries,
a special mother-daughter outing,
or simply a day when you want to give someone
an experience rather than a physical gift.
In this article,
I’ll share our firsthand experience,
the full menu,
drinks,
prices
and the special plans we found most appealing.
What Is the Autumn Palace Afternoon Tea with Bacha Coffee?

The theme of the
Autumn Palace Afternoon Tea with Bacha Coffee
is
“an elegant autumn moment in a Marrakech palace.”
Bacha Coffee,
which first arrived in Japan in 2025,
is a coffee brand originating in Marrakech, Morocco.
This limited-time afternoon tea combines the fragrance of Bacha Coffee
with seasonal autumn flavors such as chestnut,
pear
and Shine Muscat grapes.
Bacha Coffee specializes in 100% Arabica coffee
sourced from renowned coffee-growing regions around the world.
Four different coffees are featured throughout the afternoon tea:
Sidamo Mountain Coffee,
1910 Coffee,
Seville Orange Coffee
and
Autumn Holiday Coffee.
A Luxurious Escape at InterContinental Tokyo Bay

InterContinental Tokyo Bay is a luxury hotel in Takeshiba,
Tokyo,
where you can step away from the energy of the city for a while.
We visited the
New York Lounge By InterContinental Tokyo Bay
on the first floor.
With elegant chandeliers,
refined interiors
and comfortable sofas,
the lounge immediately feels special.
It is also a lovely place for an adult mother and daughter
to relax,
talk
and spend a leisurely afternoon together.
A Five-Tier Afternoon Tea Stand Featuring Bacha Coffee and Autumn Flavors

The centerpiece of the afternoon tea is
a tall and beautifully presented five-tier stand.
From sweets to savory dishes,
there is plenty to discover from top to bottom.
Several desserts feature Bacha Coffee,
while others highlight seasonal ingredients
such as chestnut,
pear
and grapes.
The presentation alone made us excited
before we had even taken the first bite.
Five Autumn Petit Gâteaux
The petit gâteaux feature both Bacha Coffee
and seasonal autumn fruits such as Shine Muscat grapes.
Here are some of the sweets we enjoyed.
Velvet Tiramisu

This dessert combines
a chocolate coffee sauce made with
Sidamo Mountain Coffee
with smooth tiramisu mousse.
A chocolate decoration resembling a coffee bean
adds another Bacha Coffee-inspired detail.
The coffee sauce gave the tiramisu
a more sophisticated,
slightly bitter flavor.
Autumn Jewel Jelly and Rose de Marrakech

The jewel-like jelly combines
Shine Muscat grapes,
seasonal grapes
and both red and white grape juice.
The fresh grapes and gentle acidity
made it light and refreshing,
so it also worked nicely as a palate cleanser between richer sweets.
The rose and raspberry macaron
was inspired by roses blooming in Marrakech.
It looked beautiful
and had an elegant balance of rose and raspberry flavors.
Pavillon Orange and Amber Pear Tart

Pavillon Orange combines
orange and apricot mousse
with pistachio mousse inside.
It is paired with a sweet pastry scented with
Bacha Coffee's
Autumn Holiday Coffee.
The vivid orange color perfectly matched
the Marrakech-inspired theme.
The Amber Pear Tart features
pear caramelized with honey
and coffee caramel chantilly made with
Seville Orange Coffee.
It is one of the sweeter desserts,
so pairing it with coffee worked particularly well.
Our Favorite Special Dish: Palais de Marron

The dish that impressed our editor-in-chief Mamarin the most
was the special dessert
Palais de Marron.
It layers Italian chestnut cream
with Japanese chestnuts
and is finished with the elegant aroma of
Bacha Coffee's signature
1910 Coffee.
The mellow sweetness of the chestnut
was balanced by the slight bitterness of the coffee,
creating a refined flavor that never felt too heavy.
The balance between the bittersweet coffee and the sweetness of the Mont Blanc was excellent.
After one bite,
Mamarin said,
“This is the best Mont Blanc I’ve ever eaten!”
For us,
this was one of the highlights of the entire afternoon tea.
Six Savory Dishes, Including Moroccan-Inspired Flavors

The afternoon tea also includes six savory dishes.
- Onion soup
- Pumpkin and prosciutto salad
- Chicken breast and mushroom blancmange
- Basil couscous, Caprese style
- Smoked salmon and sour cream blini
- Quiche Lorraine inspired by harira

Some of the savory dishes were inspired by traditional Moroccan cuisine,
which made the experience more interesting than simply eating sweets.
My favorite was the
harira-inspired Quiche Lorraine.
It had a smooth texture
with a pleasantly spicy flavor.
I had never tried Moroccan cuisine before,
so it made me curious to discover more.
Two Freshly Baked Scones

Two types of scones are served.
- Apple cinnamon scone
- Chocolate orange scone
They come with
apricot jam,
raspberry jam
and clotted cream.
The apple cinnamon scone had a softer,
moist texture,
while the chocolate orange scone was more crisp.
It was nice to enjoy the contrast between the two.
An Impressive Selection of 28 Drinks

One thing that surprised us at InterContinental Tokyo Bay
was the extensive drink selection.
There are
three classic teas,
two herbal teas,
five flavored teas,
two Japanese teas
and six coffees,
as well as iced coffee,
iced café au lait,
iced tea,
three juices
and non-alcoholic sparkling wine.
Altogether,
28 different drinks
are available.
The standard afternoon tea plan also includes
a glass of rosé sparkling wine as a welcome drink,
adding an extra sense of occasion.
Even choosing what to drink
felt like part of the fun.

Rosé sparkling wine is served as the welcome drink.
A non-alcoholic option is also available.
Hotel Original Tea: Oriental Darjeeling Elegance

One detail that immediately lifted my mood
was the beautiful teacup.
I ordered the hotel's original tea,
Oriental Darjeeling Elegance.
It had a gentle jasmine aroma
and a lovely oriental character
despite being a black tea.
I really enjoyed it
and would recommend trying it during afternoon tea.
The colorful blue and pink cup and saucer
were also beautiful.
Sometimes,
even the cup you drink from
can make an experience feel more special.
For the Full Bacha Coffee Experience, Choose the 1910 Coffee Plan

The plan that includes
one cup of Bacha Coffee's signature 1910 Coffee
allows you to enjoy Bacha Coffee itself alongside the afternoon tea.
I had already enjoyed Bacha Coffee
before the brand arrived in Japan,
but this was my first time trying
1910 Coffee.
It had a beautifully fragrant aroma
and a rich flavor.
It was an excellent cup of coffee.
Just like when enjoying coffee at a Bacha Coffee café,
cream was served alongside it,
so you can add some halfway through
and enjoy how the flavor changes.
Drinking Bacha Coffee from the glamorous pink cup
made it feel even more special.
A Colorful Special Mocktail for an Extra Photogenic Experience

If you enjoy beautifully presented drinks,
the
Special Non-Alcoholic Drink Set
is another option.
The mocktail is inspired by
sunset in Marrakech,
with vivid shades of orange,
pink
and green.
It was fruity and refreshing,
with a pleasant finish.
The colors also matched the afternoon tea perfectly,
making it hard to resist taking photos.

A Beautiful Floral Table Plan — And You Can Take the Flowers Home

Of the different plans available,
the one our editorial team particularly recommends for a special occasion is the
Floral Table Coordination Plan.
Inspired by a palace in Marrakech,
the table is decorated with glamorous flowers
centered around warm orange tones.
Adding the flowers completely transforms the table
and makes the afternoon feel like a true celebration.
It was so beautiful
that our first reaction was simply,
“Wow, how pretty!”
It really felt like a dreamlike princess setting.

Even better,
you can take the table flowers home with you.

After enjoying the afternoon tea,
you can continue enjoying the flowers at home
and remember the special time you spent at the hotel.
It almost feels like giving someone both an afternoon tea experience and a bouquet of flowers.

A Lovely Idea for a Birthday, Anniversary or Mother-Daughter Day in Tokyo

According to the hotel,
adult mothers and daughters are among the guests
who often visit the New York Lounge together.
As we get older,
it can sometimes become difficult to decide
what to give our mothers as a present.
Instead of giving another physical item,
giving the gift of time together in a beautiful place
can be a wonderful way to celebrate.
Enjoy afternoon tea in an elegant lounge,
take photos together
and spend time talking without rushing.
With the floral plan,
you can even take the flowers home at the end.
The whole day itself begins to feel like the gift.
Whether it is a birthday,
an anniversary,
Mother's Day,
a milestone celebration
or simply a special mother-daughter outing in Tokyo,
this is an afternoon tea worth considering
when you want to spend an especially memorable day together.
