We experienced the weekday-only
Mini Afternoon Tea with Champagne
at Peter,
the bar located on the top floor of
The Peninsula Tokyo
in Marunouchi.
With beautiful views toward Ginza and Shiodome,
you can enjoy savory bites and sweets together with champagne
in a refined setting designed for adults.
It is an elegant and relaxing way to spend an afternoon in Tokyo.
In this article,
we share our firsthand experience,
including the menu,
drinks,
price,
portion size,
and reservation details.
Compared with a traditional afternoon tea served on a large three-tier stand,
this version is more compact.
So if you are wondering,
“How much food is there?” “Is it enough for lunch?” or “What do you get for ¥7,500?”
this review should help.

Our Review of the Mini Afternoon Tea at Peter, The Peninsula Tokyo

This is the view from Peter,
located on the top floor of The Peninsula Tokyo.
The skyline toward Ginza and Shiodome stretches out in front of you,
and the
open, beautiful city view
is one of the biggest attractions.
The modern interior features an illuminated art installation that looks almost holographic,
giving the space a sophisticated feel.
At the same time,
the atmosphere is
quiet and calm.
My first impression was that this is
a place where adults can truly slow down and relax.
It feels very different from a lively or crowded afternoon tea venue.

This is the full Mini Afternoon Tea with Champagne.
Instead of a traditional large three-tier stand,
each item is carefully presented in elegant black lacquer-style dishes.
The set includes
four savory items
and four sweets,
served in a refined style.
In addition to one glass of champagne,
tea and coffee are available free-flow for 90 minutes.
As the name “mini afternoon tea” suggests,
the portion is smaller than a typical full afternoon tea.
After trying it ourselves,
we felt that
it may be a little light if you are planning to use it as a full lunch.
However,
the portion is just right for an afternoon snack or light meal.
It would be especially nice after lunch,
or during a shopping day around Ginza and Hibiya.
Each item is carefully prepared, so I would recommend it to people who value quality, scenery, and atmosphere more than quantity.
A Toast with Champagne — or a Non-Alcoholic Sparkling Option

Once we were seated,
a staff member poured the champagne for us at the table.
This little presentation made the experience feel especially luxurious,
and it was one of those moments when I thought,
“I’m so glad we came here.”

For guests who do not drink alcohol,
or for drivers,
there is also a
non-alcoholic sparkling option, NOOH by LA COSTE.
The bottle itself is very stylish,
and the drink has a beautiful rosé-like color in the glass.
It tasted surprisingly sophisticated for a non-alcoholic drink,
so even those who do not drink alcohol can still enjoy the celebratory atmosphere.

We toasted with champagne
with the Tokyo skyline in the background.
Spending a peaceful afternoon in such a beautiful setting felt incredibly special.
Peter Mini Afternoon Tea|Savory Selection

The savory items,
presented in black lacquer-style dishes,
looked almost like
amuse-bouches at a fine-dining restaurant.
There were elegant bites featuring ingredients such as seafood
and an item topped with salmon roe.
Each one had flavors that paired very well with alcohol,
especially champagne.

The mushroom tart
was beautifully presented with edible flowers.
With the first bite,
the rich mushroom flavor spread through the mouth.
I was surprised by how much care had gone into such a small dish.
Peter Mini Afternoon Tea|Sweet Selection

There are four sweets,
and each one looks almost like a small piece of art.
The selection included
chocolate brownie with matcha cream,
a Paris-Brest-style choux pastry with hazelnut praline and hojicha mousseline,
and
Shine Muscat tart.
They were all so pretty
that it was difficult to decide which one to try first.
The sweetness was delicate rather than heavy,
and
the light flavors made them easy to enjoy even after champagne.

My personal favorite was
The Peninsula Tokyo’s signature mango pudding.
It had an incredibly smooth texture
and a rich mango flavor.
It was so delicious that I immediately thought,
“I definitely want to eat this again!”
If you visit The Peninsula Tokyo, the mango pudding is one item I highly recommend trying.

In addition to the glass of champagne
or non-alcoholic sparkling drink,
tea and coffee are available free-flow for 90 minutes.

- Espresso, cappuccino, and café latte
- The Peninsula Tokyo Blend Tea
- Apricot Citrus

I especially liked that decaffeinated coffee and herbal teas were available.

Tea tastes even better
when enjoyed slowly while looking out over the Tokyo skyline.
