During our trip to Beppu in Oita,
we stayed at
Ooedo Onsen Monogatari Premium Fugetsu.
As the name suggests,
Premium Fugetsu is part of the higher-tier “Premium” line within the Ooedo Onsen Monogatari hotel group.
Compared with the standard brand,
the Premium line offers upgraded dining,
facilities,
and a more refined atmosphere.
One of the biggest differences we noticed was the buffet.
There were more freshly prepared dishes served hot, including live-kitchen items, tempura, grilled dishes and onsen-steamed food.
The hotel also offers
onsen baths,
a spacious lounge,
comfortable guest rooms,
and both dinner and breakfast buffets.
Based on our stay,
we felt it offered
very good value for the overall experience.
In this article,
we share our firsthand experience
with plenty of photos.

What Is Ooedo Onsen Monogatari Premium Fugetsu?

Premium Fugetsu belongs to the
higher-tier Premium line
of Ooedo Onsen Monogatari hotels.
The dining experience,
facilities,
and overall atmosphere are upgraded compared with the standard line.
Highlights include:
- Convenient location for sightseeing around Beppu, including the Beppu Hells
- Large public baths with an open-air bath
- Upgraded dinner and breakfast buffets
- A spacious Premium Lounge
It works well as a base for sightseeing
and can suit
couples,
families,
multigenerational groups,
and older travelers.
Choose Your Yukata After Check-In

Next to the front desk,
there is a
yukata selection area
where guests can choose what to wear inside the hotel.
There were many different patterns and sizes,
including options for both adults and children.
Being able to choose your favorite design
makes the stay feel a little more special.
Premium Lounge|Free Drinks and a Sand Footbath

One of the first places we visited after check-in was the
Premium Lounge.
The lounge is available to hotel guests
and has a bright,
relaxing atmosphere
with natural light coming through the windows.
Self-Service Draft Beer, Sour and Highball

The gold-colored drink servers
made the lounge feel almost like a hotel bar.
During our stay,
the self-service alcoholic drinks included:
- Asahi Super Dry draft beer
- Lemon sour
- Kaku Highball
Pouring your own drink
was part of the fun.
Local Oita Sake and Fruit Liqueurs

There were also local drinks
and fruit liqueurs,
including flavors such as
kabosu,
yuzu,
and mandarin orange.
These drinks added a nice Oita touch to the lounge experience.
I also tried plum wine with soda
and really enjoyed it.
Soft Drinks and Ice Pops for Non-Drinkers

There is also a good selection of
soft drinks,
coffee,
and juice,
so guests who do not drink alcohol
can still relax comfortably.
Ice pops were also available.

Guests can enjoy drinks and ice pops here.

Unique Sand Footbath in the Lounge

Near the windows,
there is also a
sand footbath area.
You can sit down,
place your feet into the warm sand,
and relax.
Towels were provided when we stayed,
which made it easy to use.
It was especially nice after taking a bath
or when we simply wanted to rest for a while.

Upgraded Dinner Buffet with Freshly Prepared Hot Dishes

One of the highlights of staying at
Premium Fugetsu
was the dinner buffet.
The Premium line places more emphasis on
freshly prepared and hot buffet dishes,
which made the dining experience feel more satisfying.
Both dinner and breakfast
are served buffet-style.
The dining area itself is spacious.

At dinner,
there were live-kitchen dishes
and a wide variety of Japanese,
Western,
and Chinese food.
We found
sashimi,
tempura,
grilled dishes,
and many freshly prepared items.
Oita Specialties Such as Toriten and Nakatsu Karaage

The buffet also included
toriten,
one of Oita’s famous local dishes,
as well as
Nakatsu karaage.
I became a big fan of toriten during our Oita trip,
so I was very happy to find it here too.
Onsen Steamed Food at the Buffet

Another feature that made the Premium buffet stand out
was the
onsen-steamed food.
Guests could choose ingredients such as
meat,
seafood,
and vegetables
and enjoy them freshly steamed and hot.

We had already tried geothermal steam cooking in Beppu,
so it was fun to enjoy a similar style of cooking again at the hotel.
Sashimi and Sushi for a Lighter Meal

For guests who prefer lighter dishes,
there was also
sashimi and sushi.
This gives the buffet plenty of variety
for travelers who do not want only rich or fried food.

I especially liked the sushi.
Make Your Own Tonkotsu Ramen

There was also a
make-your-own tonkotsu ramen station.
You boil the noodles yourself
and then add as much soup and toppings as you like.

Of course,
I made my own bowl too.
It tasted great.
This kind of interactive food station
is one of the fun parts of a buffet.
Roast Beef and Other Dishes We Enjoyed

Roast beef was sliced fresh
at the buffet station.

There were also seasonal dishes.
I especially liked this salmon and cream cheese salad.

We also found
Oita-produced herb chicken.
Oita really has so many delicious foods.
Desserts|Hot Steamed Pudding Was My Favorite

The dessert selection was also extensive.
My favorite was the
hot steamed pudding.
Yes,
the pudding was actually served warm!
We had already eaten steamed pudding while sightseeing in Beppu,
but that one had not been served hot.
The warm pudding at this buffet
was especially delicious.

Other desserts included
warabi mochi,
Nagasaki-style castella,
and kabosu jelly.
There were so many choices
that it was impossible to try everything in one meal.
Alcoholic Drinks Are Also Available

The alcohol selection was also extensive,
with options such as
beer,
chuhai,
cocktails,
whisky,
and shochu.
Buffet Carts and Baby Food for Families

We also noticed thoughtful details
for families and guests who may find carrying multiple plates difficult.
There were
buffet carts
available for carrying food,
as well as baby food.
Combined with the large selection of freshly prepared dishes,
the buffet felt easy to enjoy
for many different age groups.

Our Twin Room at Premium Fugetsu

We stayed in a spacious
Western-style twin room.
The room had a large window
with views of Beppu
and the surrounding mountains.

I used this desk area
to dry my hair.
Because the bathroom and sink area felt fairly compact,
this space was convenient for
doing hair and makeup.
There was no complimentary bottled water in the refrigerator
during our stay,
so that is something to keep in mind.

Bath towels were stored in the closet,
so we brought them with us
when going to the public bath.
Large Public Bath and Open-Air Bath

Premium Fugetsu has
a large public bath
and an open-air bath.
We preferred using the large communal bath
rather than the bathroom in our room.
The water temperature felt comfortable,
and the bath was very relaxing after sightseeing.
I did not spend time in the open-air bath,
so I cannot comment on it in detail.

Breakfast Buffet with Make-Your-Own Seafood Bowl

The breakfast buffet also offered
a wide variety of dishes.
We ate so much that morning.

One of the highlights was the
make-your-own seafood bowl.
You can add as much seafood as you like,
which made breakfast feel surprisingly luxurious.

It was a satisfying way to start another day in Oita.
Is Premium Fugetsu Worth Staying At?

Based on our stay,
we felt
Premium Fugetsu offered very good value
for the combination of
food,
onsen,
and lounge facilities.
What stood out most to us was:
- The upgraded Premium buffet with more freshly prepared hot dishes
- Local Oita specialties and onsen-steamed food
- A spacious lounge with complimentary drinks
- Large public baths for relaxing after sightseeing
- A wide variety of dishes suitable for different tastes and age groups
The hotel can work well for
family trips,
multigenerational travel,
friends,
and couples.
For travelers in their 60s and beyond,
the combination of
a comfortable lounge,
onsen,
and plenty of food choices
also makes it easy to enjoy the hotel at a relaxed pace.
If you want a Beppu hotel with onsen, a generous buffet, and upgraded Premium facilities without moving into luxury-hotel pricing, Premium Fugetsu is worth considering.
