Moxy Osaka Honmachi Review: Stylish Marriott Hotel in Osaka

2024年9月21日

Entrance of Moxy Osaka Honmachi

We stayed at

Moxy Osaka Honmachi

for the first time.

Marriott Bonvoy Premium Card

Because we use the

Marriott Bonvoy Premium Card,

we often stay at Marriott hotels,

but this was our first experience with the Moxy brand.

Moxy is one of Marriott’s more

casual and playful hotel brands.

So what was it actually like

for a traveler in her 60s?

Here is our firsthand review.

What Is Moxy Osaka Honmachi Like?

Moxy Osaka Honmachi hotel

Moxy Osaka Honmachi is a Marriott hotel

located in the Honmachi area of central Osaka.

The neighborhood is known as one of Osaka’s major business districts.

Nearby attractions include

Midosuji

and Semba Center Building.

With a short subway ride,

you can also reach popular areas such as

Shinsaibashi and Dotonbori,

making the hotel convenient for both sightseeing and shopping.

Access from the nearest station

Moxy Osaka Honmachi is about a

5-minute walk from Honmachi Station

on the Osaka Metro Midosuji Line.

The route from the station to the hotel was straightforward,

and we had no trouble finding it.

The Chuo Line and Yotsubashi Line

also serve the area,

making it easy to travel to other parts of Osaka by subway.

Colorful Entrance and Playful Design

As soon as we entered the hotel,

we found colorful artwork everywhere.

For a hotel,

the interior felt unusually playful

and very photogenic.

There was even a giant bear.

Another huge bear was sitting by the sofa.

Very cute!

There is also a billiards table

that guests can use.

This is what the lobby looks like

from the second floor.

The hotel itself is relatively compact,

but

the high ceilings keep the space from feeling cramped.

I also liked the international atmosphere.

During our stay,

we noticed many overseas travelers

and relatively few Japanese guests.

The atmosphere felt more oriented toward

couples and younger travelers

than families with small children.

It was also fairly quiet when we stayed.

There was another bear on the second floor!

And another one here.

I started wondering how many bears

were hidden around the hotel(笑).

If you enjoy taking photos,

this is a fun hotel to explore.

Compact but Playful Guest Rooms

Next,

let’s take a look at the guest room.

Even the elevator had colorful artwork.

At night,

the lighting gave it a completely different atmosphere.

This was the entrance to our room.

It did not feel like a typical hotel hallway.

Guest room at Moxy Osaka Honmachi

We stayed using Marriott Bonvoy points

and had a room with one double bed.

The room was

compact, clean and modern.

The table and chairs were stored on the wall

and could be taken down when needed.

This is a clever use of space,

although the room felt slightly tighter

once the table was set up.

This is the toilet and sink area.

The design was stylish.

There was also a chair,

which we found convenient.

Pink hair dryer at Moxy Osaka Honmachi

The pink hair dryer was cute

and had good airflow.

Complimentary bottled water at Moxy Osaka Honmachi

During our stay,

one complimentary bottle of mineral water

per guest was provided in an aluminum bottle.

Shower room at Moxy Osaka Honmachi

The bathroom had

a shower only, with no bathtub.

There was a stool,

so it was possible to sit while showering.

That was a useful feature for us.

Shampoo and body wash at Moxy Osaka Honmachi

The shampoo and body wash

were provided in matching bottles.

I liked the fragrance,

and the shampoo was better than I expected.

Mini refrigerator and safe at Moxy Osaka Honmachi

There was also

a small refrigerator

and a safe.

The refrigerator was for cooling only

and did not have a freezer compartment.

Retro telephone at Moxy Osaka Honmachi

Even the telephone used to call the front desk

had a retro design.

It fit perfectly with the playful Moxy style.

Drinks at the Moxy Osaka Honmachi Bar

During our stay,

we received a complimentary drink voucher,

so we stopped by the bar in the evening.

Drink menu at Moxy Osaka Honmachi bar

The drink menu had plenty of choices.

There were some unusual options

such as

butterscotch latte,

marshmallow hot chocolate latte,

and Irish whiskey cream.

At the time of our stay,

the prices also felt fairly reasonable for a hotel bar.

You can enjoy drinks

at the bar counter

or in this casual seating area.

The same space was also used for breakfast.

More colorful illustrations appeared on the walls here too.

Beer at Moxy Osaka Honmachi bar

Our editor loves beer,

so after looking through all the interesting drinks,

she ended up choosing beer as usual(笑).

One of the nice things about Moxy

is that you can casually come down to the bar

and relax without dressing up.

There was also a dartboard.

Is Moxy Osaka Honmachi Good for Travelers Over 60?

Bear decoration inside Moxy Osaka Honmachi

Moxy Osaka Honmachi has

a casual,

colorful

and stylish atmosphere.

Even though we were in Osaka,

the international atmosphere made it feel a little like staying overseas.

During our visit,

many guests appeared to be international travelers,

and the hotel felt more suited to

couples and independent travelers

than families with small children.

But

we still enjoyed the Moxy atmosphere in our 60s.

The guest room was compact,

but because we stayed for only one night

and mainly used the room for sleeping,

the size was not a major problem for us.

The playful room design

also felt fresh and different

from more traditional hotels.

Marriott Bonvoy Premium Card

At the time of our stay,

we used

31,000 Marriott Bonvoy points

for the room.

The staff were young and casual,

which matched the relaxed atmosphere of the hotel.

The location also made sightseeing around Osaka easy.

For travelers who mainly need

a clean and stylish place to sleep

while spending most of the day exploring the city,

Moxy Osaka Honmachi can be a practical option for keeping hotel costs under control.

During this Osaka trip,

we also explored the area around

Tsutenkaku Tower.
