Sheraton Okinawa Sunmarina Resort Review: Rooms, Beach & Facilities

2023年1月21日

Taking Okinawa Airport Shuttle to Sheraton Okinawa Sunmarina Resort

During our 2-night, 3-day trip to Okinawa,

we stayed at

Sheraton Okinawa Sunmarina Resort.

To get from Naha Airport to the hotel,

we used the

Okinawa Airport Shuttle.

It still stops near Sheraton Okinawa Sunmarina Resort today,

at the bus stop called

“Sunmarina Beach Mae.”

From the bus stop, it is only about a 1-minute walk to the hotel,

so it is convenient even if you are not renting a car in Okinawa.

The Okinawa Airport Shuttle is a bus service

that runs from Naha Airport through Onna Village toward northern Okinawa.

You can reserve online in advance,

and if seats are available, you may also be able to board on the day.

Depending on your flight arrival time,

it may also be worth comparing the Okinawa Airport Shuttle

with other options such as the Airport Limousine Bus.

※Fares and timetables may change, so please check the official website for the latest information.

Here is

Sheraton Okinawa Sunmarina Resort.

This beachfront resort in Onna Village, Okinawa,

has beautiful white sand and Sunmarina Beach right in front of the hotel.

It felt bright, open, and had the atmosphere of an overseas resort hotel.

And there are lots of fish swimming in the lobby!

We could also see rays and starfish.

Each time we passed through the lobby,

the sound of the water felt soothing.

Guest Room Review|Comfortable Beds That Were Great for Travelers Over 60

Guest room at Sheraton Okinawa Sunmarina Resort

We stayed in a room on the 8th floor of the Main Tower.

At the time of our stay,

we used Marriott Bonvoy points,

and our room was upgraded depending on availability.

What stood out the most was

how comfortable the beds were.

We slept very well for both nights.

Since you often walk a lot while traveling,

a comfortable bed is a very welcome feature for travelers over 60.

Sofa and table in Sheraton Okinawa guest room

There was also a sofa and table,

which made it nice to relax in the room in the morning.

Bathroom sink area in Sheraton Okinawa guest room

The sink area and toilet were clean and comfortable.

There were also plenty of towels provided.

Our room had a

magnifying mirror,

which was useful for travelers in their 60s

who may appreciate being able to see small details more clearly.

Bathtub in Sheraton Okinawa guest room

Here is the bathtub in the room.

Sheraton Okinawa also has a separate

public bath and sauna.

Currently, for regular hotel guests,

the fee is

Morning Coffee on the Balcony with an Ocean View

The balcony had a table and chairs,

and in the morning we enjoyed coffee while looking out at the ocean.

It was such a relaxing time!

This was the view from the balcony.

So beautiful~~~!!

We stayed in January,

but during the daytime the temperature rose to around 25°C,

so we were able to enjoy the warm weather and the scenery.

※This temperature reflects the conditions at the time of our stay.

These Were the In-Room Amenities at the Time of Our Stay

Our room included hangers,

Hair dryer in Sheraton Okinawa guest room

The hair dryer in our room

was a slightly older model at the time,

so I ended up using the one I brought from home.

If you prefer a stronger or more familiar hair dryer,

bringing your own may be a good idea.

Plenty to Enjoy Inside the Hotel|Table Tennis, Pool, and Craft Activities

Playing table tennis at Sheraton Okinawa

Sheraton Okinawa is also a comfortable hotel to enjoy

even on rainy days.

Currently, in the Main Tower on the 1st floor,

the gathering space called

“Ashibina”

offers

24-hour table tennis.

We had fun playing table tennis for the first time in a while!

There used to be billiards as well,

but

billiards is not currently available.

Hotel guests can also use the indoor pool free of charge.

The current opening hours are

9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Since it is a heated indoor pool,

it is easy to enjoy even on rainy days or when the weather is cooler.

Indoor play area at Sheraton Okinawa

There is also a play area for children inside the hotel.

Shisa craft experience at Sheraton Okinawa

There is still a

craft workshop where you can make shisa figurines, sand art, and more.

It looks like a fun activity for families,

and you can create an original Okinawa souvenir.

※Fees vary depending on the activity, so please check the latest information.

Dining Room “SENSES” Currently Serves Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner

Dinner buffet at Dining Room SENSES in Sheraton Okinawa

At the time of our stay,

we had dinner on our second night at the hotel’s

Dining Room “SENSES”.

At that time, there was a seasonal fair menu,

and personally I felt it would have been even nicer

if there had been a few more Okinawan dishes.

However,

buffet contents change depending on the season and special promotions,

so the current menu may be different.

At present,

“SENSES” is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Dinner is generally served from

5:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.,

and guests can enjoy buffet meals as well as à la carte dishes.

※Operating hours and menu contents may change depending on the season.

Okinawa soba eaten during our stay at Sheraton Okinawa

At the time of our stay,

Okinawa soba was also available.

You can decide whether you want to dine inside the hotel

or explore restaurants around Onna Village,

depending on your travel style.

The Scenery at Sunmarina Beach Is Amazing!

Sunmarina Beach at Sheraton Okinawa

The weather was beautiful that day,

so we took a walk along

Sunmarina Beach,

which is right in front of the hotel.

The sea was incredibly beautiful!!

Ocean at Sunmarina Beach

There is white sand and crystal-clear water.

The hotel still officially describes it as

a

white-sand beach stretching about 400 meters.

Blue ocean at Sunmarina Beach

Blue everywhere!

I think one of the biggest attractions of Sheraton Okinawa is being able to enjoy this luxurious scenery right in front of the hotel.

Sunset at Sunmarina Beach

The view around sunset was beautiful as well.

It can get windy around the pier,

so be careful not to drop your smartphone or other items(笑)

Scenery at Sunmarina Beach in Sheraton Okinawa

We were very satisfied with the room,

the facilities,

and the beach,

and it became a hotel we would love to stay at again.

It is also a great choice for travelers in their 60s.

Update: On a Return Visit, We Enjoyed Agu Pork Shabu-Shabu at “SENSES”

Christmas tree at Sheraton Okinawa

Later,

we stayed at Sheraton Okinawa again at the end of November.

There was a large Christmas tree at the entrance,

and we enjoyed the festive atmosphere of a resort hotel at Christmas.

Agu pork shabu-shabu at Dining Room SENSES in Sheraton Okinawa

During that stay,

we had Agu pork shabu-shabu at

Dining Room “SENSES.”

The plan we had at the time cost ¥8,701.

※This was the price at the time of our stay.

Currently,

Kin Agu Shabu-Shabu

is still listed at “SENSES.”

We enjoyed different cuts of Agu pork,

including shoulder loin,

loin,

and belly,

as shabu-shabu.

Sushi and Okinawa soba at SENSES in Sheraton Okinawa

The course at the time also included

sushi and Okinawa soba.

It was nice to be able to enjoy a variety of dishes in small portions.

Desserts at SENSES in Sheraton Okinawa

The brown sugar dessert was also delicious.

The combination of shaved ice,

beans,

and ice cream worked really well.

For those who want to enjoy a leisurely dinner inside the hotel,

I think “SENSES” is an easy and convenient option.
