ANA InterContinental Ishigaki Resort Review: Breakfast, Pools & Cafe

2023年8月7日

Entrance of ANA InterContinental Ishigaki Resort

We stayed at ANA InterContinental Ishigaki Resort and enjoyed everything from the breakfast buffet to the swimming pools.

This resort is incredibly spacious.

We had breakfast, spent time at the pools, walked through the gardens,

and even enjoyed some adorable sweets.

There is so much to do that you can have a wonderful time without even leaving the resort.

Our Editor-in-Chief Mamarin, who is in her 60s, even took on the waterslide!

It was a fun chance for adults to feel like kids again.

In Part 1, we honestly reviewed our Ocean Wing room, amenities and the beach.

In this second part, I’ll introduce the breakfast buffet, pools, gardens and PALETTE cafe in the Bay Wing.

※This article is based on our experience during our stay and was updated in September 2026 after checking information on the hotel’s official website.

Breakfast venues, available pools, opening hours and services may vary depending on the accommodation wing, plan and season.

Suncoast Cafe Breakfast Buffet Review

Breakfast buffet at Suncoast Cafe

We enjoyed the breakfast buffet at Suncoast Cafe on both mornings of our stay.

There was a wide variety of food, including fruit, vegetables, bread, egg dishes and Okinawan specialties!

There were so many choices that it was hard to decide what to eat each morning.

For guests staying in the Ocean Wing, where we stayed, Suncoast Cafe is currently the main breakfast venue.

For guests staying in the Bay Wing, SALTIDA is generally the main breakfast venue.

Available breakfast venues may vary depending on your accommodation wing and plan, so check the details when making your reservation.

Japanese Breakfast Dishes Including Mozuku and Kamaboko

Japanese breakfast dishes including mozuku seaweed

There were plenty of Japanese dishes at the buffet too.

You could also try Okinawan specialties such as mozuku seaweed and kamaboko fish cake.

The mozuku from Ishigaki Island was so delicious that we ate it almost every day during our stay!

The Japanese selection is especially nice for travelers who prefer rice to bread in the morning,

or who find an entirely Western-style breakfast a little too heavy.

Plenty of Bread and Freshly Made Omelets

Bread selection at Suncoast Cafe breakfast buffet

There was also a great selection of bread!

I would have loved to photograph everything,

but the restaurant was almost completely full.

There were many guests, so I only photographed part of the buffet.

It can get busy at certain times,

so if you have plans after breakfast, heading down a little earlier may be a good idea.

Freshly made omelet at the breakfast buffet

The omelets were freshly prepared by a chef right in front of us.

They were hot, generous in size,

and absolutely delicious.

Our selections from the breakfast buffet

Instead of filling one plate with lots of food,

we tried small portions of many different dishes.

And of course, we went back for seconds of our favorites!

The cheese was delicious too.

We Enjoyed the Buffet Two Days in a Row

Enjoying breakfast at Suncoast Cafe

We visited the breakfast buffet on two consecutive mornings.

Because there were so many different dishes to choose from,

we enjoyed it just as much on the second day.

Having both Japanese and Western dishes also made it easy to choose something that suited our mood and appetite each morning.

Coffee after breakfast at ANA InterContinental Ishigaki Resort

When we stayed at the hotel, takeaway cups were also available for coffee.

After breakfast, we could bring our coffee back to the room and enjoy it at a relaxed pace.

Outdoor and Indoor Pools — Plus a Waterslide!

Sunrise Pool at the Ocean Wing

After breakfast, we headed to the pool!

We used both the Sunrise Pool and the indoor pool in the Ocean Wing.

The outdoor Sunrise Pool has a waterslide.

And our Editor-in-Chief Mamarin, who is in her 60s, decided to give it a try!

Adults do not often get the chance to ride a waterslide,

so it was a lot of fun to feel like a kid again.

The indoor pool is available throughout the year.

When we stayed, seawater from Ishigaki Island was used in the pool,

and if a little water got in your mouth, it tasted slightly salty.

Water conditions may change due to maintenance or other factors,

so check with the hotel for the latest information during your stay.

The outdoor pools available to guests also differ depending on which wing you stay in.

  • Ocean Wing / Coral Wing: Sunrise Pool and Indoor Pool
  • Bay Wing: Sunset Pool and Indoor Pool
  • Club InterContinental: Exclusive pool for Club InterContinental guests

Opening hours vary by season.

Before your visit, check the official pool information for the latest details.

When we stayed, there were showers and a swimsuit spin dryer near the indoor pool.

We used the facilities in this order:

Outdoor Pool → Indoor Pool → Shower → Spin-Dry Swimsuits

This worked really well because it reduced the amount of walking around and changing we had to do.

Pink heart-shaped pool float

We brought a glittery pink heart-shaped pool float with us.

It is large enough for adults to use too.

It also looked adorable in our resort photos!

Walking Through the Spacious Tropical Gardens

Garden and swing at ANA InterContinental Ishigaki Resort

The hotel gardens have swings and sofas where guests can relax.

It was fun to sit on the swing while enjoying the tropical surroundings!

This is also a lovely spot for taking photos.

Garden near the chapel at ANA InterContinental Ishigaki Resort

The garden around the chapel was beautiful too.

Taking a walk after breakfast or later in the afternoon,

when the sun is a little less intense, is a nice way to enjoy the resort.

Red hibiscus flowers in the tropical garden

The combination of bright red hibiscus flowers, the pool and lush green scenery was beautiful!

We were able to take plenty of colorful tropical photos.

Relaxing at PALETTE Cafe in the Bay Wing

PALETTE cafe in the Bay Wing

The Bay Wing is home to a cafe called PALETTE.

It offers drinks, deli items and sweets,

as well as original gelato.

Cakes and sweets at PALETTE cafe

The display case was filled with adorable cakes!

Everything looked delicious,

so it was difficult to decide what to choose.

Colorful sweets at PALETTE cafe

After spending time at the pool,

taking a break with some cold gelato is a lovely option.

It is also nice that you can relax at a cafe without even leaving the resort.

When we checked the hotel’s official website in September 2026,

PALETTE was open from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Opening hours and menu items may change,

so check the official PALETTE page for the latest information.

A Resort Where We Enjoyed Breakfast, Pools and More

At ANA InterContinental Ishigaki Resort,

we enjoyed breakfast, spent time in the pools, walked through the gardens and relaxed at the cafe.

There was plenty to enjoy without even leaving the resort!

The breakfast at Suncoast Cafe included not only bread and Western-style dishes,

but also many Japanese and Okinawan dishes such as mozuku seaweed.

Even after eating there two days in a row,

we never got bored.

At the pool, our Editor-in-Chief Mamarin, who is in her 60s,

even took on the waterslide!

Adults can have fun feeling like kids again too.

I recommend this resort for travelers who want to enjoy not only sightseeing around Ishigaki Island,

but also plenty of relaxing time at the hotel itself.
